한국어를 어떻게 공부했나요? // How did I study Korean?

오늘은 제가 어떻게 한국어를 배우기 시작했는지, 그리고 한국에서 교환학생으로 지냈던 경험을 이야기하고 싶어요. 저는 한국에서 교환학생 프로그램을 하기 전에는 한국어를 많이 잘 하지 못했어요. 아주 기본적인 것만 알았었죠. 자기소개와 한글 쓰는 법은 알았어요. 한글은 24글자밖에 없어서 아주 배우기 쉬웠어요.

2017년부터 2018년까지 연세대학교에서 교환학생 프로그램에 참여했어요. 저는 거의 1년을 한국에서 보냈는데, 제가 지금까지 살아왔던 날들 중에서 가장 흥미로운 시간들이었어요. 1, 2급 한국어 강좌를 들었고, 정말 많이 배웠어요. 또, 전 세계에서 온 많은 유학생들을 만날 기회가 있었어요. 저에게 한국어에서 가장 어려웠던 것은 처음 배울 때 문법과 발음이었어요. 한국어 문법은 노르웨이어와 정반대에요. 즉, 문장 끝에 동사가 나오기 때문에 상당히 어려웠어요. 하지만 금방 익숙해졌죠. 또, 발음이 어려웠어요. 일부 모음들이 발음하기가 상당히 어려웠어요. 예를 들면 “ㅓ” 와 “ㅗ”같은 발음들이요. 처음 들을 때는 차이가 정말 없는 것처럼 들렸어요. 문법과 발음은 정말 어려웠지만, 한글은 정말 쉬웠어요. 중국어나 일본어에 비하면, 한국어의 쓰기 체계는 매우 쉬워요!

연세대학교를 졸업하고 한국어 2급 (초급)을 마쳤어요. 노르웨이에 돌아온 후에도 계속 혼자서 한국어 문법을 읽고, 연습하면서 한국어를 공부해요.


Today I want to talk about how I started to learn Korean and share my experience of being an exchange student in South Korea. Before I did my exchange program in Korea, I couldn't speak that much Korean. I only knew very basics. I knew how to introduce my self and how to write hangul. Hangul was quite easy to learn because it only has 24 characters.

Between 2017 and 2018 I did my exchange program at Yonsei University. I spend almost a whole year in
Korea. That was one of the most interesting years I ever experienced. I took Korean courses - level 1 and 2 and learned really a lot. I also had a chance to meet many international students from all over the world. The hardest thing in Korean for me was the grammar and pronunciation at the beginning. Korean grammar is opposite to Norwegian, which means that the verb comes at the end of the sentence, therefore it was quite hard. However, I get used to that. Also, Korean pronunciation was hard at the beginning. Some of the vocals were also quite hard to pronounce. For example - O and o. I didn’t hear any difference at the beginning. However, the easiest thing was definitely hangul. Comparing to Chinese or Japanese, the Korean writing system is extremely easy! lol.

I finished level 2 Korean (beginner) when I graduated Yonsei. After I came back to Norway I still study Korean on my own, mostly by reading and practicing grammar.
